Weatherproof 12V IR Gate Sensor

Compact 12V DC infrared beam sensor set for outdoor door and gate monitoring. Each unit (transmitter and receiver) measures 90 mm × 35 mm × 30 mm and weighs ~180 g. Enclosure is constructed with UV-stabilised ABS and features a seamless waterproof lid design — tested for continuous operation in sustained rain, freezing temperatures, and coastal salt exposure. Powered via standard 12V DC supply; outputs a configurable dry-contact or voltage signal upon beam interruption. Performance-critical components include a thunder protection circuit on the receiver PCB, a regulated power transmitter module, and an adaptive AGC circuit paired with spectral filtering. This combination delivers stable detection across wide operational variables: ambient light levels from 0 to 50,000 lux, temperature ranges from −20°C to +60°C, and moderate airborne particulates. Detection logic incorporates built-in debounce and pulse validation to reject transient interruptions (e.g., birds, debris), ensuring only intentional door/gate movement triggers action. Proven in applications spanning suburban automatic gates, industrial roller shutter monitoring, heritage property perimeter security, and off-grid farmstead entrances — where longevity, low maintenance, and immunity to UK’s changeable climate are essential requirements.
