M42 To RMS Microscope Objective Adapter

Precision-machined aluminium alloy adapter ring for connecting M42-threaded microscope objective lenses to RMS (Royal Microscopical Society) standard mounts. Outer diameter: approx. 42 mm; inner RMS thread: 0.796"–36 TPI (20.2 mm diameter). Total thickness: approx. 5.5 mm. Weight: ~18 g. Designed for rigid mechanical coupling — no optical elements, no electronic contacts, no autofocus or aperture control. Enables use of standard biological microscope objectives (e.g., 4×, 10×, 20×) on DSLR/mirrorless systems via additional SLR lens mount adapters (not included). Requires manual focus only — objective lenses are fixed-focus optics with finite working distances: ~10–15 mm for 4×, ~1–2 mm for 10× and 20×. Maximum parfocal distance is 160 mm; total optical path (objective + adapter + SLR adapter + camera flange distance) must remain under this limit for proper image formation. Ideal for macro and micro-photography setups where high-resolution, flat-field corrected objectives are preferred over standard macro lenses. Best used with a precision macro rail or focusing stage for fine focus control. Slight vignetting may occur at edges due to native objective design — expected behaviour, not defect.
