The plug is designed to block the hole left in the inlet manifold of the N57 engine when the swirl flaps are removed. These plugs seal the opening in the intake bridge created after removing the swirl flap shaft. The supplied spacer helps maintain the correct pressure if the base is worn. Once installed, the swirl flap motor housing is refitted to hold the bung in place.
