The AS5048A is a 14-bit rotary position sensor designed for absolute angle measurement utilizing non-contact magnetic sensor technology. It offers PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) output and supports both SPI and I2C serial interfaces for connecting to microcontrollers. The device provides a full-scale resolution of 14 bits, equating to 16384 discrete positions per revolution.Suitable for shaft applications, this sensor operates when a simple two-pole magnet rotates relative to the IC. The zero position is programmable via SPI commands, removing the requirement for exact mechanical pairing of the chip and magnetic poles during assembly. This feature allows for flexibility in design without the need for specialized programming equipment.The sensor features robust operating tolerances, accommodating deviations in the center position and air gap between the chip and magnet.
