Compact Neodymium Testing Magnet

Measuring 12 mm wide at its widest point and 40 mm long, this keychain magnet weighs 34 g (1.2 oz) and houses an N35-grade neodymium core inside a protective metal casing. It delivers a pull force greater than 1.5 pounds and comes fitted with a stainless steel split ring for secure attachment. Designed for portability and durability, it withstands daily handling across professional and casual use cases. It functions as a first-line verification tool for metal composition: attraction indicates presence of iron, nickel or cobalt — helping users rule out fine silver, pure gold, solid brass or bronze when assessing jewellery, coins or antiques. Many plated items — especially older brass or bronze pieces — conceal ferrous bases; this magnet reveals them instantly. It also assists in telling polished aluminium apart from some stainless steels, and detecting chrome plating (which typically uses magnetic nickel layers) versus truly non-magnetic finishes. Used by jewellers to avoid counterfeit purchases, by recyclers to pre-sort scrap streams, by antique dealers to evaluate authenticity, and by educators to illustrate magnetic properties — this tool offers repeatable, immediate feedback that complements but does not replace further verification methods like density or acid testing.
