M8 is a practical mid-range size for adjustable spacers, stand-offs, light fixing points and non-metallic assemblies where a smooth plastic thread is useful. PTFE is valued for low friction, electrical insulation and broad chemical compatibility, but it is softer and less rigid than metal.
